The Spenco Siesta slipper is one of the best slippers with arch support. It’s fashionable, yet highly functional footwear that can provide you with a good number of benefits.. This mule is made of 100% fabric material for the upper, compression-molded EVA foam for the footbed, and durable rubber for the outsole.
It features the Zero-Drop technology to make sure that your forefoot and heel remain in the same leveled height, thereby reducing the fatigue and stress you experience on your feet. It also features Spenco’s Total Support contour to make sure that it can conform to the shape of your foot.
As a fashionable mule that’s intended to provide relief from foot pain, the Spenco Siesta Mule is available in a dozen style choices and colors for you to choose from. Apart from that, it also comes in seven different sizes ranging from 5 to 11.
Arch Support
The Spenco Siesta mule offers excellent orthotic-grade support on the arch of your foot with the help of its Total Support footbed. As such, you can expect the right amount of support when walking around the house or running quick errands. The footbed, as mentioned earlier, is made of compression-molded EVA foam, and it does come with a textured pattern to prevent your foot from slipping.
The insole is semi-rigid, but still mostly comfortable. Especially when compared to other cheaper products with flat footbeds. It’s a bit softer and has odor-control properties to keep it fresh and lasting longer.
Meanwhile, it has plenty of toe room so you can allow your toes to splay as you walk around using the slipper. And like some of their orthotic products, this insert comes with a metatarsal dome to provide support in the forefoot area.
And since it’s designed as a mule, it comes in a convenient slip on and off package. So you can set it by the bed or couch and simply slide in and out with ease.
Heel Support
The heel cup of the Spenco Siesta mule is deep enough to provide you with the support you need on your heel. This also helps with stability as it keeps your heel cradled inside, thereby helping to prevent your ankle from rolling around. The Spenco Siesta seems to be wide enough to allow comfort for people with wide feet. As far as narrow feet, they fit pretty regular… with a little room to spare, as you can see in the video review we provided.
Outsole
The Spenco Siesta’s outsole is made of rubber to provide you with a decent amount of traction and stability as you go about doing your usual activities. It can also work well on a variety of surfaces, not to mention that it’s non-marking as well, which allows you to walk on wood floors without leaving a trail behind you.
What makes the Spenco Siesta unique compared to most slippers on the market is that it features a two-part outsole. The first part, which is located on the forefoot section, has a pattern to help with cushioning. While the second part is located at the arch and heel section featuring a hexagonal pattern alongside three different lugs. These lugs are meant to provide additional traction on the ground, preventing you from slipping even on wet surfaces.
Overall Feel
A lot of the reviews from users point out that the Spenco Siesta is really comfortable and we’d agree. When trying them on you’ll notice first how easy they are to slip on. The metatarsal pad in the front is non-intrusive, yet helps to keep your feet locked in the slipper, which is a nice benefit in itself. There’s no clacking like you’ll find in standard flip flops, either.
The footbed is about as comfortable as it looks. It’s semi-rigid and not really much more can be said. It’s not bothersome and it’s not super soft. But for getting around the house, it has that great arch support you need and enough padding to be comfortable along the way.
Narrow feet may find a bit of extra room in the heel area, but not enough to fuss over. And the toe box is spacious enough for your feet to wiggle and squirm without feeling cramped, hot or bothered in any way.
Use
The Spenco Siesta mule can be used for both indoor and outdoor purposes. As you can see, the design is such that it doesn’t just cater to walking around the kitchen and bedroom. The outsole is durable as any Spenco outsole and can be taken to the store or running small errands around town, if you feel comfortable doing so.
Since it’s not fuzzy or made with thick materials, you can also use this any time. Using them in summer is not a problem, while wearing them with socks in the winter will be fine, as well. They’re extremely versatile.
It’s also not waterproof, so you’ll have to watch where you take them. And washing them might ruin the fabric, so you’ll need to be careful in how you treat them.
