The Salomon XA Pro 3D Trail Running shoe is a versatile athletic shoe with good arch support. It’s made of 100% textile and synthetic material to provide that comfortable feeling without compromising on durability. At 380 grams, this makes for a bit of a heavier running shoe, but for trail running and casual use it’s just about fine.
It’s fitted with a dual-density EVA midsole for efficient shock-absorption and comes with a heel-to-toe drop of 11mm.
Arch Support
The SALOMON XA Pro 3D for men is a stability shoe that offers excellent support for your feet. With the insole, you are getting sufficient arch support that will make this a good trail running shoe for flat feet and mild pronators. Though you shouldn’t expect a completely cushioned feel, it still provides enough to keep your feet feeling supported. It also has an Ortholite sock liner to provide the most comfort possible.
Due to its design, it can offer great support for a variety of activities including trail running, road running, walking and casual use. While the arch support is not great, it is removable and you can replace it with any over-the-counter insert you want.
When it comes to the midsole, the XA Pro 3D is fitted with a dual-density EVA foam which offers full-length cushioning and good durability. This ensures that your feet enjoy the right amount of cushioning and support to make you feel comfortable during your activities. It also offers decent protection from shock and impact when taking on rough terrains.
The XA Pro 3D’s upper is designed for superior comfort and breathability. It’s made of a quick-drying breathable mesh which makes it extremely durable and comfortable at the same time. Moreover, SALOMON’s own Sensifit technology cradles your foot so you can enjoy a customized and secure fit.
Heel and Ankle Support
The XA Pro 3D contains a flexible heel cup which SALOMON calls the “3D Advanced Chassis”. It’s made of a shock-absorbent foam that can comfortably cradle the heel while keeping it securely locked in place. It also offers excellent stability even on tricky terrains.
The sole on the XA Pro 3D’s heel is thick and offers a ton of traction when compared to other shoes that have good arch support. Overall, it offers a high level of stability which allows you to achieve better balance, giving you that extra “push” you need when running or walking. However, the ankle support could probably be a bit better.
The outsole is designed to provide you with high levels of traction while on a trail. It’s made of the Contragrip rubber with “self-cleaning” lugs that are designed to prevent mud from clinging to the shoe. Additionally, there are lugs attached to offer extra grip on tougher trails.
Moreover, the outsole can provide you with excellent protection, grip, flexibility, and responsiveness. That’s the one aspect that most customers really like about the XA Pro 3D.
Overall Shoe Feel
The XA Pro 3D’s too box feels just right. It’s neither too tight nor too wide, and it offers enough room for your toes to splay. Unfortunately, it may not be wide enough for some users, and it’s only available in standard width with no wide options.
Part of the shoe’s upper is made of breathable mesh, which can keep you somewhat cool and comfortable. This Salomon trail running shoe also offers a convenient Quicklace system, which features laces that are easily adjustable and stored away for a clean look. You can be assured that they won’t come undone while cruising around.
Although it may require a little break-in period, yu can be sure that this shoe offers a really comfortable experience with great arch support compared to some of its counterparts.
Use
The XA Pro 3D is advertised as a trail running shoe. However, it can also be used for daily activities as well as running and even casual around-town use. For those that need a trail running shoe with arch support, the Salomon XA Pro 3D is rated highly by those with plantar fasciitis.
